From me: One of the first things I remember my father teaching me is that rape is the worst thing that someone can do. Murder victims don't have to live with the harm done unto them - rape victims do.
I had a girlfriend who was raped in the worst possible way. Her father died when she was 8, but for many reasons told and untold, she didn't go to visit his grave until she was 16.
At that first visit to her father's grave, she was raped by a lunatic who also cut off a piece of her hair and told her he would keep it forever.
He was found 10 years later, and had confessed to raping people between the ages of 8 and 80.
I was delighted to find out that most rapists are killed in jail almost immediately. Even criminals can't stand them.
I only wonder if I would prefer that rapists live forever, which still would not be enough time to make amends for their crimes.
I am disgusted by the fact that I have not had a single girlfriend who was not raped or molested at some point in their life. Very few of them were able to heal.
At the risk of pointing out something most personal and unpleasant, I've noticed that sharing intimacy becomes an almost impossible hurdle for those that have had their intimacy violated. This is perhaps the worst effect of such an atrocity, for is not love the reason for life?
Klassy reminds us all that while our experiences can leave marks on who we are, they cannot dictate who we are, they may press upon us, but they only shape us in the way we allow them to.
Fortunately, Klassy is a sculptress of the soul. She proves that she can and will take her life and create a work of art more beautiful than anything most people ever imagine.
From the page: "I want to heal, and I am going to heal because I will it.
I believe in my self, and I believe that I am strong enough to go to war and win this battle and reclaim every thing that was stolen from me.
I will summon every courage to be brave and face every adversity head-on. "
